Mesquite is a weed in Texas that camoflauges it's self as a tree, the Ninja of the horticulture world. In south Texas we pay people hundreds of dollars and acre to get rid of the crap. In Virginia, they pay a few buck a pound to use it at Bar-B-Que's. Someone's raking it in at both ends if you ask me.

See my thread about crushed ribs.

The advice the doc gave me was:
    1) Take it easy - at least 3-4 weeks to heal, but probably longer before I could do grappling again
    2) Take the prescription-strength Motrin she gave me. She said it will help me heal faster
    3) Even though it hurts, take deep breaths from time to time. This will help me avoid getting pneumonia. She said that people with rib injuries tend to breathe shallow (yep), so they don't expel bacteria like normal, which gives them a chance to breed and cause problems.
    4) Use whisky (Jack Daniels?)... not for drinking, but in the BBQ sauce. :D

I trained 6 days a week with my rib fracture ... it took, oh, a year to heal.

I've only had both my floating ribs broken, they healed no problem but the first couple weeks were hell trying to find a comfortable position to sleep in.

THAT would be the sign of an obsessive person, JKDC.

But I have to agree with Hanni on that one...most people would back off.

good news is that my rib is healing, i hope it feels okay next week
If it hurts just a little should I train with the risk of it hurting a lot or just wait until the pain is Totally gone.
