I've heard of Hakko Ryu before. There's a guy in Denver named Dennis Palumbo who teaches it. That being said, I have no idea of the answer to the obvious question--does he have anything to teach?
I don't know about the Motobu-Ha thing, but Shito Ryu is a common form of Japanese karate. -

I met a guy who did Hakkoryu one time when he came down for a seminar. As I can remember it was more of a throw/joint lock/submission style. No grappling really.

AFAIK, Hakkoryu traces its roots back to Daito-ryu Aikijutsu, so it looks similar to Aikido, which is another Daito-ryu descendant. Don't know about its views on theory and application, though. It's a fairly common style.
As for Shito-ryu, the style has lots of senior members who chose to retain the core teachings while adding their own personal innovations. This happens often in Japanese MA. Haven't heared of Motobu-Ha, but some of the more well known Shito-ryu groups are Tani-Ha (Shukokai), Itosu-Kai (Japan Karate Organization), Hayashi-Ha and Nanbu Do. Lots of these group's member sites are listed on google. -
