Yeah, I'm actually learning some sub-grappling at the moment as well. It's offered at my school, and I figured "Why the hell not".

Show up tomorrow and I'll teach you some sub-grappling, BIATCH!!

Actually, my toe is really hurting so I might not be up to it. I'll show up tomorrow anyway.

But seriously... I've been checking out the BJJ schools around town. Found armbar.net with dojos in Del Mar and Oceanside, looks pretty good. Any suggestions Hapko,Mediocratese?
That place looks decent....Gracie Barra affiliates are solid. You could also look for Judo places....just avoid anything that is oriented towards "sport" Judo.

I'm more than willing to show you things I know as well....especially if you'd like some introductory grappling experience before jumping into the classes. It can be a little overwhelming at first if you've never experienced the ground life.

Yea, my toe swelled up really big on saturday and was hard to walk on sunday. I didn't train monday either, but that's because of my wedding anniversary. I'll show up on wednesday, though, and stick around to roll. Injuries suck, even the smallest ones.

    Budd,

FWIW - I believe HAPKO is training at the Roy Harris Academy down off Miramar. I've heard good things from some other folks as well.

I don't have any basis for comparison as this is the only BJJ school I have trained at, but we have a great group of people, a number of very strong students of all levels, and Mr Harris is considered to be one of the best BJJ instructors out there.
