Look, if you want to learn ground fighting and standup fighting go to a school that teaches a system that specializes in that and nothing else. Now-a-days that means a school that teaches BJJ, Thai Boxing, or other comparable MMA skills. If you take the "Ninjutsu" route you'll learn some neat stuff, but you'll also learn a load of stuff that maybe isn't that useful. Decide what kind of fighter you want to be and don't take martial arts that lead you away from that path. From what you described I don't think Genbukan is what you want to do.
    Seconded.

    Menkyo Kaiden this and that...

As this is a no BS site, I'll be blunt. It is well know in Japan, that anyone can walk into a antiquarian dealership and purchase old makimono (scrolls) for various ryu-ha. I have often seen them myself selling for several thousand yen. They are aften for lines that have died-out etc. To be awarded Menkyo Kaiden in any koryu art requires a life-time of dedication. When these so-called ninja claim to have received MK in half-a-dozen various arts, they are playing us foreigners for fools. And shamefully enough, we eat it up. I am not suggesting that what they teach isn't valuable. I am suggesting that it isn't, in most cases, authentic.

Thread is two years old, but does rip on ninjers.

Just think, I was probably playing Unreal 2004 when this thread was made.

Well, his last post was back in May. It's my theory that he did become one with a retard of ninjers. Why? Because he performed the best trick a ninjer will ever learn. He disappeared.

People that want to be ninjers, deserve to be ninjers. That is thier crime, and also thier punishment.
