The only real solution is to find Kung Fu Slippers of Rootedness that give +3 saving throws against takedowns.

I am interested in this Cro Cop stuff.
However, all I'm seeing is fighting records and stores to buy stuff. Anyone know some good free resources to look at what this guy does?

download all his highlight clips from kazaa ------ watch specificaly where he places his legs, his stance is very square and he is keeping his hips quite far back. watch for how this lets him sprawl easily. this gives him good lateral mobility to throw knees or kicks at a shooter as well.
Note also how awsome he is at booting people in the head!

If I may add a little something.
IF you are a natural striker and you really do want to rely on striking to defeat a grappler, you MUST indeed, learn to grapple, BUT there is a little something too...
You MUST learn HOW to strike a grappler !!
You see, its "easy" to strike a striker, you train for it ALL the time, the striker will stand where and how you want him to, striking is designed to counter striking.
To strike a grappler effectively is something different.
Grapplers do NOT give you the targets you want, they do NOT stand up and the work far to close to allow you to use skills developed to counter the opposit of what they are doing.
The come in offering the worst possible striking targets and when they are in, they unbalance you so as to eliminate the "power" in the few stikes you can get off.
You MUST train to strike from VERY close distance, footwork MUST be used to put YOU in the best position possible for striking, you must be able to strike INSTANTLY.
As you become familiar with grappling, you will see what I mean, but you MUST learn to grapple and you must fight a grappler and strike a grappler, NOT another striker.
Its the only way.

Go to a Muay Thai or Kyokushin school. Ask to spar someone who's been training for as long as you have. That should make it clear pretty quickly if you've been wasting your time.

I don't think that looking at Cro Cop's fights is the easier way to learn how to beat a grappler.
He is one of the best strikers in the world, it's very difficult to do what he does. He has some natural advantages that most people don't have (i.e his left kick). There's a reason why most strikers are defeated by grapplers. Cro Cop and some few others are exceptions.
On the other hand you can probably beat a lot of grapplers by just being an average grappler. That's easier than being an elite striker.

The only way to be an effective striker vs a grappler is to learn how to stay on your feet . The only way to do this is to be dumped on your head and shoulders repeatedly over a period of several months or maybe even years by a competent wrestler. Eventually you will learn some takedown defense.
After a year or so of drilling your new techniques you will find that you still get taken down. So hopefully in between getting dumped on your head you were also being choked to sleep and getting your joints hyperextend.
After a while you will be able to survive long enough to get of some good strikes.
In short, learn to grapple.
