As stated in this and the other thread, it really is an expensive piece of **** tech. A small minority of gun owners will whine, but the vast majority don't care about them. I know I thought they were the ****, but watched and researched them. I can pay for a better trigger, have a gunsmith do LEGAL things and just practice to do the same as a BF stock and be much more accurate. Hell, gun classes and a CCL are cheaper in my state. They are fun for inexpensive plinking, but pretty useless otherwise. Before you say it, I am glad he used a bump fire stock. If he would have been methodical, The death toll would be much higher and the injury toll would most likely be 59.

"In the aftermath of the evil and senseless attack in Las Vegas, the American people are looking for answers as to how future tragedies can be prevented. Unfortunately, the first response from some politicians has been to call for more gun control. Banning guns from law-abiding Americans based on the criminal act of a madman will do nothing to prevent future attacks. This is a fact that has been proven time and again in countries across the world. In Las Vegas, reports indicate that certain devices were used to modify the firearms involved. Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law. The NRA believes that devices designed to allow semi-automatic rifles to function like fully-automatic rifles should be subject to additional regulations. In an increasingly dangerous world, the NRA remains focused on our mission: strengthening Americans' Second Amendment freedom to defend themselves, their families and their communities. To that end, on behalf of our five million members across the country, we urge Congress to pass National Right-to-Carry reciprocity, which will allow law-abiding Americans to defend themselves and their families from acts of violence."

It crossed my mind that he may have intended to rappel out, but thatís just me thinking about possible exit strategies. That would be a long rappel and he didnít appear to be wearing a harness in the couple of pictures I saw of his body. There are only so many ways out though, if escape was the intention.

Plus every cop in the grid-square will be watching those windows and they'll nab him the second he touches the floor.

    Even seen "Smokin' Aces"?

If you haven't seen this movie (it's pretty good imo), there's a very intense sequence involving an eerily similar situation with a .50 casino sniper firing on law enforcement and casino security in one building from a hotel floor perch in an opposing tower.

Anyways..there are criminals all over the place in the casino for various reasons, and in the chaos of the shooting they get out past the FBI by wearing various uniforms or stolen badges (FBI, hotel security, EMT, police).

I wonder if the Sheriff found disguises. If I was planning to slip out a casino after a major crime, I'd want to look like I belonged there. If he'd made it in a uniform out into the street...he'd have blended right in.

Thanks Obama. Somehow I knew it would all be his fault.

Neither the Gun Control Act or the National Firearms Act allow regulation of bump stocks, because they are a part, and not a regulated firearm (see ATF memo below).

You might as well try to restrict the types of shoulder straps or paint job, under the current law. I distinctly remember gun enthusiasts and the NRA cheering this on in 2010, but in the Land of Make Believe 2017, anything goes.

This is the exact reason I have never, nor will I ever, support the NRA.

I smell politics as usual....but have you noticed the number of GOP Congress who claim to not even know what a bump stock was?

What an opportunity for them to "do something"....NRA spin = GOP win...thanks to Trump the GOP is in the legislative shitter, but this will be a sure thing. No Democrats will oppose it.

"Trump Signs Popular Bump Stock Ban Into Law After Vegas Tragedy"...can't wait for the black flag conspiracy operators to that one up. We'll never hear the end.

I need to log off for a while and clear my head.

If he really wanted to get away then that's one way to do it. The uniforms or disguises won't be necessary though, people might ask him questions or ask for help. If he looked terrified and dishevelled and was running away from the area he'd be blending into a crowd of hundreds, hiding in plain sight, LEO's may even assist him in leaving the area.

Obviously CCTV, witnesses and forensics would catch him out but he could be miles away, ready to go again. Rinse/repeat until he's caught or killed.

If I was a conspiracy theorist, I'd postulate how Paddock was the patsy and the real shooter escaped in precisely this manner. A professional finds a local gun nut, befriends him, uses his cards to check into the hotel, ties him up in the hotel room during the shooting and then kills him right before SWAT got there. He'd already be in SWAT gear when they came in.

However, I'm not a conspiracy theorist, so I'll be relying on Occam's Razor as always.
