take my advice on this one, every basketball coach i ever had said the only way to jump higher is to just jump over and over and over.
i wouldn't recommend the weighted vest, it will f-up your knees and back.
if you can do box jumps or bleacher jumps in increments of 2 min. if you have a squat machine, NOT FREE WEIGHTS, take a lower weight and finish you squats by trying to jump or at least go up on your toes at the end.
shitloads of lunges. go to a wall and reach up as high as you can (on tiptoes) with your hands, put a piece of tape on the wall. do 2 minutes jumping and make sure both wrist are clearing the tape on each jump.
i have heard that The Leaper is a good piece of equipment when it doesn't break and injure people and if you're into wierd equipment i have heard that the strength shoe will greatly help your vertical. -

michael jordan drill= back flat against the wall, bend your legs until parallel with the ground, arms out, hold for 2 min. do this in between jumping on the wall (wrists above tape)
one more, take a piece of rope and tie between two trees (or whatever) stand next to it and jump over side to side rather than front to back. rope should start at least just above knee level. when you can do this with the rope at mid thigh - hip level then you'll be where you want. also do this in interval of 2 minutes.
jump rope as a warm up and a cool down. do your jump rope like this if you can, do 5 regular jumps and on the 6th one jump high enough to get the rope around one extra time. count to 100.
you'll be flying in no time.Last edited by kismasher; 5/21/2004 11:45am at .
