    I nearly pulled my back out of place trying to finish an armbar on a younger guy (6' and #220, not fat)....

    I had already swept, choked, and arm-barred him, nicely. The third time, I literally could not straighten out his arm, and I had decent position, and his arm was already mostly straight, and he picked me up off the ground.

    I let him go to potentially save both of us...

    It is the repetitive element. Old man strength is finite. We can stiffen up once, but several times is too much to expect.
