There are far and few Pak Mei experts, and I know of two that teach in Canada.
There are a few in the states.
I have never heard of Pak Mei being PART of any other system.
For an instructor to teach a style like Pak Mei as something other than a main system seems very strange.
And as for ALL these Pak Mei instructors even being legit... well, it depends on who you talk to and WHICh lineage they claim to follow.

Maybe Shaolin Do is a compendium of material as seen in various shaw brothers movies.

I have never heard of Bak Mei as being PART of another system either. Especially a system that claims to be "Shaolin"! Everyone knows Shaolin and white eyebrow people hated each other!

Pak Mei is one of the few that combines Shaolin AND Taoist principles.

Since the creation of the Fukien temple there have been many instances of Shaolin temples being burned or destroyed and recreated. Throughout this process new styles have been created, including Tai Chi, Wing Chun, Choy Li Fut, Hung Gar and Praying Mantis.

Says it was created as a new style along with the rest of those that are listed so odds are it's possible SD wont resemble what you learned in Choy Li Fut.
That's not a Shaolin Do school, it's an Shaolin Kempo school.

Where did these forms come from?

    Why don't you wear shoes?

    Where are the salutes?

    Mr. Mantis,

I don't think even SD people can tell you a lineage and stick with it. They claim to teach, Tai Chi, Bagua, Ching I boxing, the five major animal sets, hung gar, more weapons than I care to name, White Eyebrow is new, but not a surprise, Chinese Kempo, drunken kung-fu, chi-na, as a seperate style etc. Without the weapons, most SD schools I've seen material on claim to teach at least 12 different styles and that by 1st or 2nd degree black, you'll have something like 8-10 of them down.

The only personal dealings I've had with SD have been two people that worked for me and were morons to start with, so I tried not to judge to harshly, and some people at a sport JJ tourney I went to as a younger man. The tourney guys were nice, but not too bright, or skilled.

AFAIK Tai Chi isn't a shaolin art. It originated from the taoists of Wudan.

While the history of Taiji is somewhat debatable, it was either a creation of the Chen family or comes from the Wudang Taoist temple, what is not debatable is it NOT being a shaolin system.
