Hi,
In your opinion which would be the better art, from a street fighting perspective, to complement my existing BJJ training?
Thanks
Chris

It depends on the form of Pankration. I would say you should study Muay Thai or some other type of striking art just to be more well rounded.
PEACE!

MT's striking is very good for an athletic person who doesn't mind hitting and being hit. If you have those qualities then there is no better art for hitting.

If you can get real good at Panantukan, as with other FMA, you can really fuck someone up with the dirty stuff you learn from it.
On the street, I'd say it's at least equal to Muay Thai for self-defense, because it's more compatible with the way streetfights go down (i.e. 80% sloppy boxing 20% wrestling).
It doesn't have kicks like Muay Thai, but in a streetfight (as opposed to the ring) you're not going to miss them as much because you'll probably be able to use your Panantukan hand techniques, which are more extensive than those of MT, to great effect.

Couldn't agree more.

Dammit, guys. He said "Panantukan", not "Pankration".
Panantukan is "Filipino boxing" which is pretty much anything-goes as for hand techniques (i.e. elbows, fists, gouges, standing grappling/trapping) and in my opinion would be as effective as Muay Thai in a streetfight because of its greater range of hand techniques (no gloves).
"Pankration" is the Greek martial sport that we all know about as meaning "all-powers".

Panantukan sounds cool, something I would want to check out....I doubt I could ever find a school or teacher though.

Best place to look would be a JKD school. A lot of them teach FMA as part of the curriculum (either integreated or in separate classes) because of Dan Inosanto's influence.
As far as I know, it's pretty rare to find Kali and Escrima schools on their own, much less something like Panantukan.
