I have two dogs as well.

    Animals in general just rock.

I like them better than I like most people.

    Except hot women.

I have these gloves too and they rock. In fact, I've come to depend on these gloves as I cut up my hands every time I work on the bag without them (bareknuckle or using wraps). Beyond preventing the skin from scraping off my knuckles, I can't really tell you how much protection they offer. My hands never hurt even after going 100% on the bag with or without gloves and I keep the wrist wraps fairly loose so my wrist don't get weak.

But, in my opinion, the only gloves better than these are the kikskins - but those are a good $20-$30 more expensive.

You say that palm heel strikes are on your list... well... the only problem I have with those is if your fingers catch on clothing/material and you break/hurt something in the middle of a fight... I think if you didn't know how to punch, you would look pretty funny (like some sort of demented chicken) trying to hit a guy with an elbow while he jabbed you in the face while moving backwards, just my opinion though.

I think that open hand techniques should be learned after you master the closed hand techniques, so at least you have something to fall back on if the open fails.

Just my opinion however (chuckles at funny chicken-elbow-flapping mental image)

Ahh I have nothing of value to add to this topic, hopefully the next person does :D

You're a Goju-ka, get your hands on some of Higaonna sensei's videos, they will show you what Goju is suppose to be.
