Lots of jujutsu styles incorporate throws as well as mat work. Keep it simple... sir. :)

Well he's into to BJJ so he's obviously not cool.

BUT ... I'd think that Judo and BJJ would be way to redundant. For the throws? Do you like to stay on your feet or not? If you like fighting on your feet what are you worried about throws for? BJJ seems like good insurance to me. If you get taken down, your fine. But otherwise .. .what's wrong with Shorin Ryu?

Umm... actually if he wanted to stand up the point of judo would be to not get taken down. If he does mainly BJJ and then also some standup on the side, then he'd use judo to take it to the ground.

It really depends on your goal, I think. For self defense and general fighting ability I'd say yes. For BJJ tournaments, I don't know as I don't compete in BJJ. For judo tournaments, obviously. For MMA, I'd go with wrestling and no-gi bjj. For gi mma, judo is perfect. It really depends.

I can tell you that it's fun as hell, though.

I am the captain of a Judo club...where the **** is my booze!
And that's when I figured out that tears couldn't make somebody who was dead alive again. There's another thing to learn about tears, they can't make somebody who doesn't love you any more love you again. It's the same with prayers. I wonder how much of their lives people waste crying and praying to God. If you ask me, the devil makes more sense than God does. I can at least see why people would want him around. It's good to have somebody to blame for the bad stuff they do. Maybe God's there because people get scared of all the bad stuff they do. They figure that God and the Devil are always playing this game of tug-of-war game with them. And they never know which side they're gonna wind up on. I guess that tug-of-war idea explains how sometimes, even when people try to do something good, it still turns out bad.
