I love this technique, I throw it a little different I use more of just a front kick or push kick instead of the roundhouse. I find it'll drop the guy easier with the push, but that's only for street use or you could really hurt someone. when I practice it I just place my foot on they're leg and not push. I also find it natural since in WTF sparring we sometimes use a similar technique where you quickly step forward inside they're leg then punch as a counter to a roundkick. Then again I'm sure all kickboxing and such have a similar technique.

Actually the leg lift is an optical illusion. It's actually me moving in to kick the guys leg. It was really wierd that we couldn't get a decent shot of the half way point.Originally posted by Omar
Instead of lifting the thigh like that, I like to just kick directly up under his kick. For my lead leg rounds I always take a little step off to the right so that changes the angle enough. Even if I don't have time to step it doesn't seem like his round can get to me in any painfull way.
The only difficulty I've ever had with this one is just reacting fast enough to pull it off. If I'm behind the gun, then I'm stuck with a regular old leg block. But if I see the kick coming at all, this is my favorite counter.
(p.s. You can kick him in the nads too. I like to sometimes kick the top of the inner thigh just to point out the danger.:) ) -
