If you notice I turn my leg a little so that I don't take the kick directly to the side of my leg.
This is an excellent bait.
Next you want to do a quick shuffle keeping you moves as slow and tight as possible. When his leg goes by you have to act quickly. Watch to see if he stops his momentum by planting his leg. A lot of guys do. Raise your lead hand to prevent him from turning back towards you. -

This works on experience fighters too...I did this yesterday to one of the more experienced guys. I think he underestimated me...hell, *I* underestimated me too, because when he ended up turned around, I just stood there staring at his back going "Oh my god! I can't believe that actually friggin' worked on this guy!"
Then he got angry and kicked me in the face.

I like the technique. Here's something to try. Once you have sucessfully dodged the kick, try to pull step in a bit and do a right palm strike to his right shoulder to keep his centerline closed and off balance.Originally posted by omega
