i can? as a zero stripe white belt, with no competition record i can buy a black belt from the IBJJF? or *you* can as a proven brown belt with a competition record and the skills to back up the black belt?

i am in no way suggesting that the belt is "sacred" but you make it sound like some guy with zero experience and $2k can walk into IBJJF HQ and walk out 5 minutes later with a recognized black belt.

It depends. Americans probably can't buy the belt like that. Brazilians can. The sacred nature of the belt helps them immigrate into the country. You can even get fake IBJJF wins to go with your belt.

Because Bullshido is all about the bribery standard, right? This is what we're about now?

That's the direct OPPOSITE of our code. We're not just allowed, but REQUIRED to buy belts now? What the hell happened when I was gone?

Also, might Machado's endorsement have anything to do with 2k annual affiliation fees perhaps?

This tends to cost between 2000 and 3000 per year. It might have something to do with the situation.

Nope, you should of done what the rest of the BJJ community told you which was continue to wear your brown belt after the BTT promotion fell through instead of promoting yourself. The BTT/IBJJF affiliation was shady as ****. But it doesn't change the fact that you tied your own Black Belt around your waist after it was all said and done. To me that was equally shady.
