The young teens I teach would get giggly when someone would fart in class. One in particular, who is a very serious competitor, would lose his composure. I suggested he ought to ignore the fart, no matter how loud or smelly. He started to argue with me so I hit him with this scenario.
"You are in the gold medal match at nationals. You've been behind the whole match, but finally knock your opponent down and get him pinned. You have to hold him for ippon, because you are behind by wazari, and regular match time is up...if he escapes before 20 seconds, you lose. You are holding him in a lengthwise sankaku gatame, with your face near his crotch. No way he is getting out...then he rips a huge, smelly fart in your face...silent but deadly the ref doesn't hear a thing. Are you gonna hold him or start laughing and choking and let him go ?
So last night, we are rolling, and he is with a (female) student. She farts loudly, and he doesn't even blink. Neither does she. No giggling, no stopping.
Mission accomplished !

I want to get dropped on my head, by BKR, so badly...."So, yeah, Zen teachers may well insult you, work you to the bone, hit you with sticks, shout verbal abuse at you, and punch the **** out of you.
And when the ****'s been punched out of you, you might just find that you're far better-off without it." - Vieux Normand
