"there's nothing hotter than women with guns who want to go out and defend this country"

Never read a Brad Thor book (cool MANLY name), in fact never read much 'faction' due to the Dan Browns' of the world.

Apparently Delta Force recruiters stalk hot female athletes and ask them to become American Ninja..this is so cool I can't even breathe right now.

The Athena Project is the book title.
A movie is to be made and Rousey is lined up to star, I hope this happens and I hope she can act.
    From the linked article:

Thor is thrilled to be partnered with Warner Bros. to put out a great pro-American, pro-military movie, which he says there is a shortage of in Hollywood. And because hes the undisputed king of faction, you can certainly expect a heart-pounding, ultra-realistic plotline.

Any one read any of his stuff? Any good?

I only know about Brad Thor because of a few of my more liberal friends who can't stand him. He is, according to them, some sort of ultra-nationalist that really can't stand most non-Americans. He is, they say, an anti-Islamist of the worst kind and is openly hateful of any kind of Muslim or anything Muslim related. Supposedly, he's a big Glenn Beck supporter and contributes frequently to Glenn Beck's show.

Now, that's only what I've heard and I'm not sure how much of it is true. Never read any of his books, so I can't comment on how well he writes.

Politics aside, this guy seems kind of Tom Clancyish. I've seen her fight; I'd like to see if she can act.

    Brad Thor, huh?

When I first heard of this "name", I asked the sizeable number of Scandinavians of my acquaintance (he claims the family name is both real and "Swedish") if having just plain "Thor" (no suffixes) as a family name would likely happen.

Reactions ranged from guffaws to facepalms. Name-searches for just plain "Thor" as a family name were equally fruitless. Also, he doesn't appear to have done anything other than write. No service record or any such thing.

Basically, he's a cheerleader. An armchair warrior. Send him a water-pistol and some fluffy-mjolnir pom-poms.

Whenever I think of Starship Troopers (the movie), an image from another film pops into my head: a squared-jawed marionette slowly intoning "Matt Damon". I know not why this happens, and am very confused.

Book or movie? The book wasn't satirical in the least. The movie was a jugfuck.

Ah, the eternal war between the people that consider the movie to be brilliant satire, and the people that think that the book is the best thing since sliced Ayn Rand.

Let me guess: another hardcore military fetishist with no actual military background?
    *checks author's biography*
    Yep.
    The fool thinks himself immortal,
    If he hold back from battle;
But old age will grant him no truce,
    Even if spears spare him.
