    Black eye in Aikido?

Well, during "peaceful" Randori... essentially evasion work. I got decked in the face pretty hard by a fellow black belt.... I can't see out of my left eye and I'm very concerned. . I've only had a hand full of black eyes; but the sight loss has never been this bad. Should I wait until the swelling goes down or should I see an eye doctor asap?

Also, my sensei didn't say anything when this guy punched me in the face. Granted I've have only been to this school for a few months. .. but if someone did that at my old dojo something would have been done about it.. especially since this is Aikido. I may just be bitter; but there was no need for him to hit me like that. Opinions please?

First, go to the doctor. Don't bother asking people on the internet if you should do so.

Second, do you think this guy punched you in the face on purpose? That it wasn't an accident?

I'm asking because usually when the swelling goes down the sight comes back. I understand the way I said it may have been a little juvenile.

I think so; anyone in Aikido understands that it is about fluidity and control. I've never been hit so hard in my life... especially by another black belt I'm just really shocked by the whole situation.

Tough to say exactly what happened without seeing the situation.

First, just go to the doctor for the eye, there's no point in risking vision impairment to save yourself the cost of a consultation.

Second, watch how the guy who hit you trains with everyone else, it may be that he's an aggressive douche or he think's he's being teh d34dly by displaying his l33t atemi skillz. Or it may be that it was an accident and you just genuinely walked into a pulled strike.

I'm not buying the level of swelling without further information as to how the OP got "decked". My injuries in aikido were, for the most part, limited to joint issues and the occasional scraped toe/knee from the canvas covered tatami.

If you, OP , are not trolling, you should go see a doctor.

    btw Anastasia,

I see you're from Texas. Member of the Fugakukai by chance?

Yes, I can. When I said I lost vision it wasn't black; just blurry. I have my full vision back and the swelling has improved dramatically.
