David joining the grappling gym is pretty much the best outcome possible. Glad he decided to learn something new and effective, hope he can listen and absorb without turning everything into a tai chi discussion.

It should be interesting to see how his videos change after a few months of grappling practice.

I'll be able to comment on that on Friday.

I don't really check his youtube channel. Has he posted anything about how he's starting grappling?

I'm probably not patient enough for all that. One reschedule with advanced notice. One no-show with him telling me right up to that afternoon he was coming early to class to sign up.

Seems sincere enough. But you can understand why I'd have doubts at this point.

Sounds like he might be happy to go back to his videos and retcon your session such that it proves his concepts correct. Sad.

I dunno. Watching someone come to the conclusion that you have to train grappling to fight grappling and that there's no replacement for live training, totally on their own, was awesome. It would be a shame if he passed up on taking the next step he already decided was necessary. If he emails again, I'll keep encouraging him to show up I guess.

I miscommunicated with him. He called from the gym to ask where I was today. Sometimes having the tiniest sliver of faith in humanity is rewarded in the least consequential way possible.
