The Learning Channel (TLC), home of Honey Boo Boo, was started by NASA. It used to be transmitted from a NASA satellite for free.

A&E has ties to Disney and Nickelodeon and was originally supposed to be a commercial, sponsor-funded complement to PBS. So, conservative religious values are not something I'd necessarily associate with A&E.

But, Reality TV is what sells today, and it owns and drives profits in most of the best old cable networks that used to have great, non-reality based content.

A&E is corporate. They made a simple Cost Benefit Analysis and went with whatever cut into their bottom line the least:

X = Cost of losing LGBT crowd and supporting sponsors by lifting suspension

Y = Cost of losing religious conservative crowd and supporting sponsors by keeping suspension

I don't know if there are that many LGBT-friendly sponsors who show ads during Duck Dynasty. I have never watched it. But I would guess that Y was a much bigger cost.

I try not to jump to conclusions, but could this possibly mean that the religious conservative crowd has more disposable income than the LGBT group? Corporate America generally targets the group with the green and caters to them.

I used to enjoy TLC, A&E and the History Channel until they did go commercial. This reality **** is anything but.

So...trolling for reactions of outrage, as a way of eliciting cheap guffaws, isn't limited to the internet?

    OMG. Who gnu?

My only grievance is how easily people have been played by A&E's publicity stunt. They manufactured a bunch of controversy in order to create publicity for a show that, by all rights, no one should give a **** about.

So I'm doing my part in not feeding the beast and continuing to not watch trashy TV.

He said pretty much what you would expect someone from his background/ upbringing would say. Anyone who is surprised by it is not very smart. All you have to do to "protest" is not watch. I'm sure the White House is glad for the distraction from Obamacare/Iran/Benghazi/Fast and Furious/IRS/NSA. Carry on 'Merica.

Oh, and you couldn't pay me to watch that stupid show.

Anyone who thinks these so called "reality shows" aren't scripted to some degree is daft. I know one of the people on another show currently being played-

    http://dsc.discovery.com/tv-shows/street-outlaws

I'm happy, happy, happy for Phil. GLAAD preaches the need for everyone to be tolerant of their lifestyle, yet they're intolerant of anyone who speaks out on the flip side of the coin.

Me, I could give a happy rat's ass what someone does in their life as long as their not hurting anyone else.

    Freedom of speech baby.
