    There was a post a while back about weighted vests. I still say it's a lot of shock to put on the knees to try and run and jump with one on.

    In plyometrics, for instance a box jump, where you jump off a 2-foot-high box, rebound instantly to land atop another 2-foot-high box, is that your body weight multiplies through momentum at the bottom of the jump, at the point at which you are supposed to be accelerating upwards. This is a lot of load, but if you're squattin' 300, you should be ok.

    Then again, most martial artists put their bodies through more stress that that! :) Plyo will make you faster that's for sure...

    Also continue with the Olympic lifts, they do work...

    There are actually a couple of models that explain the increase in power (force x distance / time), one of which involves training the stretch relflex. You know, when a muscle goes to the limit of its stretch, there is a reflex to pull it back, and plyometrics are supposed to strengthen the muscle at that phase. On the cellular level, the rate of muscle fiber recruitment is being increased.
