The leg catches to leg locks, and the rolling take down-into-submission techniques look SAMBO-ish to me, but I've never done it so it may not.
Some of that is SAMBO. Got to love Machado guys.

Yeah they look like they are really competent grapplers.

Could you tell me what parts are SAMBO techniques? The scissors takedown is used in SAMBO often right? (It's used in Sanda too)

You keep getting hung up on techniques...
    Falling for Judo since 1980

    Quoted for Truth.

The truth of the matter is that the difference between a Judo, SAMBO, Jiu Jitsud, Mambo, Zumba, Pokeman throw is when and who you learned it from.

    I highly recommend Bob Bass.

Yeah I realized that a couple minutes after I replied to Omega. I was thinking, "That's a dumb question. All of these techniques are in some system or other."

I agree with what you and Omega said,

"The truth of the matter is that the difference between a Judo, SAMBO, Jiu Jitsud, Mambo, Zumba, Pokeman throw is when and who you learned it from. "

I have to break that way of thinking. It's annoying.

    Your right.

I'm going to be checking out the wrestling class they have tomorrow. The instructor, Tony Hua, has a BJJ brown belt under Mr. Bass, and a level 2 instructor rating under erik paulson's combat submission wrestling program. I'm just going to watch, though.

I heard CSW has really strenuous warmups, so I'm going to have to see about that, and if it has striking (I don't want striking)

Do you think I should try the BJJ classes too? One of the BJJ instructors has 15 years of freestyle wrestling under his belt, so I hope they focus on throws and takedowns more than most BJJ schools.

Just thought I'd say that I've been going to South Bay JiuJitsu for around a month now and the place is top notch. Great instruction, great people, great environment!

    (Sorry to necro)
