    Gis For Jake Staniszewski

    Hey Bullies,
I'm starting a fundraiser to benefit my instructor, Mark Stan. As some of you know, Marks' son, Jake, has been battling a rare and aggressive form of pediatric cancer. To make matters worse, Mark lost his younger brother Mike to a heart attack last week at the age of 38. These are tough times for the Stanizewski family.
As part of the fundraising efforts, I'll be raffling off a bunch of gis at the FB page below:

    https://www.facebook.com/GisForJake?ref=hl

First up is a brand new Shoyoroll batch 24 in size A2!

    Please spread the word!

    Thanks!

Nice of you. I have no use for another Gi. But if you raffle some knives or stick or something like that, post on here and I'll check it out.

Just tell me where I can go to donate some money. I'm strapped as I'm going through a divorce, but I'll do what I can. I know Mark and I trained at his place for about a month before I got orders to move to Texas.

I don't do Facebook and don't need another gi at this time.

If you can provide a PayPal or other method I'd like to help out. Young man is 15 months old.

Looking at https://www.facebook.com/GisForJake/app_18015191938 the campaign has paused and not currently accepting donations. The PayPal icon there did not take me anywhere.

Campaign paused. Sorry, we're not currently accepting contributions.

This is something the BS community could get behind. We have nearly 210,000 members now. It wouldn't take much to help reach that $5k goal.

Hey guys, thanks for the response. Unfortunately the raffles are on hold until I can properly apply for a charitable organization designation and then a license to hold games of chance on behalf of the charity (raffles are considered a form of gambling and are heavily regulated, something I was not aware of until now). Suffices to say, I will not be deterred by this minor inconvenience. Check out the Gis For Jake FB page for a more detailed explanation of what my plans are. I'll keep the BS community updated here as well.

Thanks for the support and please keep Jake in your thoughts and prayers!

The BJJ4LIFE site is up and running @ www.bjj4life.org

After numerous calls to Paypal and the New York State Attorney General's office, we are cleared to accept payments via Paypal!

For those of you that previously entered the raffle for the Shoyoroll Batch 24, feel free to re-enter at the new site. There's also a badass mouthguard that was donated by the folks over at Gladiator Guards (the same company that makes the Lebron James "Fang" mouthguard).

Over the next few days I'll be adding some more items to raffle off. Should have a few more gis up over the weekend!

Thank you all for the support and let's do everything we can to help out Jake!

Thanks Joe, anything you can do to raise awareness for Jake's cause is greatly appreciated. Rallying the Bullies is a great start!
