I agree with you, mostly being difficult.

First rule of bogus journalism: don't let the facts obscure the story.

I don't know whether to be disturbed or impressed. Forget the "my dad can beat up your dad" argument that kids get into, it's more like "I can beat up your dad."

I didn't know Pankration was just kids mma.

I guess the pottery from ancient Greece lied to us or they had some fucking giants for kids back in the day.

A more accurate version of this might be: don't let the fact that you don't know what you're talking about keep you from writing the story.

Here has been our attempt to counter this. I belong to the group of coaches trying to bring light to the truth behind all this.

    ^^ This.

Ahhh, the Daily Mail.... 95% of all stories printed, will have the accompanying subtext - "Be afraid... Be VERY afraid!"
"So, yeah, Zen teachers may well insult you, work you to the bone, hit you with sticks, shout verbal abuse at you, and punch the **** out of you.
And when the ****'s been punched out of you, you might just find that you're far better-off without it." - Vieux Normand

"So in short, BJJ wins again. BJJ, and chainmail." - TheMightyMcClaw

"On bullshido, your opinions are not sacred, neither are your feelings." - Scrapper

"You entered the lions' den. Don't bitch if you get eaten." - danniboi07

"Needless to say, it's much easier to clear a bunch of drunk kids out of your house when you're yelling GTFO and carrying a samurai sword." - DerAuslander

"Eventually, I realized it doesn't matter what art you train, what matters is the method in which you train. Training in an alive manner, under skilled and qualified instruction, is the single most important aspect of gaining martial skill. All else is window dressing." - JNP : Saying it how it is!

It's funny how they single out the Americans on this one. Honestly I've seen this happen in the UK too. Didn't think much of it, sure they had a show about it on Channel 4 a few years back. Nothing special, they've got protective equipment on and honestly I wish I'd started at that age. Seen some places teaching MMA as young as 5... In Thailand I think they teach kids from as early as 4 in Muay Thai...
