Looked at his web page here:

    http://freddiesmodernkungfu.com/sifu-lee/

I don't see a specific Kung Fu rank of any kind. Lots of 24 hours courses, 8 hour courses, etc. Also he was a police officer for a few years apparently.

Originally I looked up his claimed qualifications thinking maybe I'd look into the legitimacy of them, but honestly, they're all of the short class certification variety (like the OC Spray Instructor course, which is an 8 hour course. The Certified PPCT Defensive Tactics Instructor is a 5 day course. The Certified Injury Prevention Trainer seems to be related to massage therapy (?)

    http://www.saveyourhands.com/certifi...ion-instructor

    And that's a 3 day course.

He says he trained with "Sifu Sam Ng (Master of Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu) & Sifu Phillip Ng (Master of Wing Chun Kung Fu)"

He's not listed as an instructor on their page

    http://www.ngfamilymartialarts.com/instructors_list.htm

But, he doesn't claim to be either so that's pretty much a wash. Probably should note I don't think that site has been updated recently.

You'll note how many of the Ng Family instructors are full contact fighters. I'm pretty sure I've seen some of these guys at Guoshu tournaments.

That doesn't exactly jibe with Freddie's stance on competition.

Big LOL at a 31-year-old with no Zen or Daoist education grading me on how well I understand Dao De Jing. Bigger LOL at that particular 31-year-old being this guy:

At least he's one of those certified police officers. There are some uncertified officers running around, who I can't really take seriously. Or something.

His whole insistence on spirituality is just ridiculous. Preaching spirituality in MA might be ok for someone like Morihei Ueshiba, who spent his life in the military, waging real war, developed a very high degree of skill in his MA, and eventually came to a different view on the value and meaning of human life. People like Freddy preach spirituality because he read somewhere that it goes together with Kung Fu. Nothing wrong with seeking spirituality, but its something we are more likely to find praying in a church, meditating in a temple, or better yet, helping out in a soup kitchen, than training how to fight. Duh. Not deliberately hurting people is not spirituality, its just ordinary decency and common sense.

Training with this lunatic is definitely not going to make you spiritual. He sits in front of the camera playing with his gun (cocking it) and ranting about BJJ and MMA being "blowjob jitsu" and gay porn. Do we detect some hate and hangups here? Did he try grappling once and find himself with a woody?

And for a cop, he shows little knowledge or concern for how to handle a firearm safely, constantly taking his finger on and off the trigger and pointing the muzzle every which way. I wouldnt trust him to guard my recycling bin.

My version of spirituality -- praying that God save us from people like Sifu Freddy.

Probably the same as most non-sports guys (i.e. get a beating). At least the sports guy will be able to get a few good digs in on one of them first...

Yeah, but if you take out the swearing, insults and repeated statements each one is really only a few minutes long.

Why would a guy showing off his Airsoft gun require his teachers to have a CCW?
