Wait, but I thought...? Man, I've been putting my Gi on COMPLETELY wrong.
****, why wear clothing?

But I guess if you wanted to signify rank in no gi then set up a ranking system that is based on the colour of your shorts such as black shorts are the highest etc
Though the guy in the video says he would name people if he wanted to be specific about somebody, I have a feeling he did the original video because of a specific person or situation (that he didn't clarify).
Somebody probably boasted about being "a purple belt" (as he mentions that colour more often than the others) while actually not training in a school that uses gi and belt.
I don't see another reason for doing the video.
I mean in my view there is nothing wrong if a pure no gi grappler claims he is "as good as" or "at the level of" any given (BJJ) belt, if he's got the tournament victories or training successes to prove it.
After all, even legitimately promoted BJJ belts are really measured by performance on the mat, either in training/sparring or in tournaments. That's the definition, right? You've got to be able to consistently roll with the same colour belts to be considered worthy of one.

Because your rank would change depending on whether you are grappling your preferred gender.

Why re-invent the wheel and have to explain it to everyone? Why not just accept that keeping a consistent item for ranking is an appropriate way to respect the history and progenitors of a given martial art while the art itself continues to evolve in the future?
No-gi Jiu-jitsu, in the BJJ lineage, is a direct descendant of BJJ from the Mitsai Maeda, which came from Kano's Judo who is credited with creating the belt system.
Doing away with belts would be a slap in the face to that history.
Well, look how you don't have to explain it to anyone right now. Good job.

To be honest, though: you can call it a belt, a rashguard, a jockstrap, I don't really care. You seem to get really worked up on getting called out on it, though and so far, your reasoning behind it is bullshit, mostly.
