Do they use nerf swords for that?? The two handed nerf swords will leave a nice mark if swung with enough force.

I ran an arnis training camp last month, and also using the same campground was a contingent of LARPers. We made a general invitation to them that they could spar with us if they wished, but the closest we had to acceptance was one of them came over and watched us train for a bit.

wow close one!, I have yet to find an FMA defense to lightning bolt! you would have been toast!

in all seriousness I have often wondered how LARPers would deal with someone with training, back in uni i went to one LARP setup and was allowed to play an orc (cannon fodder i believe) i was asked to leave as i would not let the good guys win, true story and yes, I was a bit of an arse at 19

I'm told wearing my tall copper hat is also a bad idea.

We had the opportunity to watch some of their weapons play. First, their level of ability was fairly low (even within the limits of what they were doing), and second, their ruleset was severely (and understandably) restrictive.

In an arnis vs. larp matchup, using their rules I expect my crew would either lose (unfamiliar ruleset, and a whole lot of fouls) or slaughter them. If we used our ruleset, we would clean-sweep slaughter them.

They get at least a little credit for fighting in costume - some of it looked mighty uncomfortable just to stand around in, let alone spar.
