From July 2015, While getting ready for the master worlds at blue belt I decided to go ahead ad do a few purple belt matches, this turned out to be the silver medal match at purple belt absolute between myself and a very game opponent Mr. John Townsend.

I need to refine my passing, as I normally count on dropping my hips for a kneebar to force the pass and that's a no-no in gi Bjj.

I enjoyed it, honestly to go out there and lose to the silver medalist by an advantage, well it was at the same time heart breaking and confidence boosting if that makes any sense. That said next time I'll have a better handle on my weight, I wound up weighing 180.6 ..... not the best thing since I was in the 181 - 195lb division.

That said I did get to see some great matches and really got the feeling that dam near everyone in that building was an elite level competitor.
