    Violence in boxing/mma

I'm writing a paper for my comp class. I can't find anything good and I need some essays, preferably from different stances on the subject, (one arguing that boxing, or mma, is too violent, and one with a counter point) to use as sources. Hoping you guys have something I may have missed.

You can't find any sources who think combat sports are too violent, so you're hoping somebody on THIS board will make that argument? I expect plenty of folks here would argue that they are not, but I wouldn't count on getting both "sides" represented on a site that is specifically for martial arts enthusiasts.

Some arguments can be made for MMA actually causing less long term damage than boxing (ability to submit an opponent rather than knock them out for one). If you want the "too violent" side of things look for references to "human cockfighting", opponents of sanctioning MMA events in some states (just about every state at one point in time), and so on. There are plenty of critics out there, so it shouldn't be hard to track them down...

Alright thank you. I didn't phrase it very well in the original post, but this helped.

Do a search regarding the incidence of injuries (head injuries in particular) in MMA and in other sports.

Also, several medical associations have come out against MMA due to its risk of injury (they also came out against hockey, football, gum chewing, tying your shoes and generally living your life).

Meh Humans are violent. Its a part of our very nature. The question I suggest asking is trying to supress it completly healthy.

A good suggestion, and one I plan to explore further.

You can probably find some good material in the form of news articles and opinion pieces if you focus on the arguments for and against legalizing MMA in the state of New York.
