I thought it was k1 ruleset?? I don't really know my Sanda ruleset at all,but i believed that Sanda allowed/scored the takedowns, whereas K1 doesn't. It does look like they are preparing for a Sanda fight not K1. Or am I mistaken about the rules??

Rules are definitely K1. Thing is, who knows when that training video footage was taken. Could be brand new, could be recycled, never know coming out of the PRC.

Do they want to keep an easy way out in case they look horrible in the competition? Be like "Yeah this wasnt that optimal but we were not used to fight under these rules and some of our competitors were injured and stuff". If they competed under sanda rules, they would have an harder time to rationalize their "failure".

Or am I thinking to negative?

    Jeez guys...

I agree that their chances might not appear brilliant, but the assumption, not only that they are going to lose, but that they are going to bitch and moan and make excuses about it seems a bit off.

Give the guys a chance. At least they're not hiding away in Chen village claiming they can destroy everyone without ever putting anything on the line. That's the spirit of this site isn't it? Testing yourself against different sorts of opponents, taking yourself out of your comfort zone.

Oh, I'm not writing them off. They are putting a lot on the line by doing this, and props to CZQ for pushing his guys to train for this. He's been wanting to field a team for awhile.

I'm just trying to figure out the logic here.

Chen guys do well: Public response "It was fixed"
Chen guys do bad: Public response "See, Taiji is teh lulz"

I really don't see them using any excuses, especially since a 2nd round of bouts is already on for 2014. My only comment earlier was about that training video, not about their chances. And even if that training video is recent, it doesn't necessarily mean anything other than some demo for a news reel.

It's easy to fix a fight before a casual audience. Harder to fix one for an experienced audience. If we can see the fights, we'll likely be able to tell a work from a shoot.

So if they win, and we see it's legit, there's no reason to expect the response here to be "It was fixed."

I seem to remember reading some years ago of an MT v WC event...and the MT fighters won 10-0. I expect the same here. Those poor Chen stylists won't know what's hit them.

I admire Chen Style and have played at it and it has its place; which is not in a ring with an MT fighter.
