Wow you really don't get it, any example would have sunk you. You made the choice to make a direct comparison, guess what is going to happen other people are going to comment on that comparison. It has nothing to do with IT.

In those situations, I like to concede that I made a bad example instead of defending it to the end. Really saves on the 1s and 0s.

If I had to pick one piece of true wisdom to take away from this experience, it would likely be this.

Well, this and a growing appreciation of the poet that is ChenPengFi. His words, they paint a picture...

That's the first thing I saw when he accused YOU of being "all over the place." That IT post contains the logical fallacies I was talking about much earlier. Then I realized:

He'd just excuse it away and blame you or me for his our mistakes.

Yeah, I tried...more than once I tried to switch that out...I even said "IT controls the Spice, so controls the Universe". Who doesn't love a Dune reference?

Finally just stopped responding to anything related to IT and things did drift back around to the "original" topic eventually...

Well, of course I get it, but here's the problem...what we were talking about was the idea of a persons value to society being fairly represented by their annual income. Well, occupation has a really significant impact on annual income, right? So that opens up an examination of the societal value of occupations. Yeah, it's touchy, but its intellectually honest to go there. Actually it's kinda hard to avoid it, IMO. So I thought I would try some kind of 'high-risk/low-reward' (firemen, who hates firemen?) to 'low-risk/high-reward' (unfortunately I pulled IT out of my hat) comparison.

    Then things went south.

Nah, I appreciate that Goodlun is making a real effort to discuss his viewpoint.

I probably would blame you though...

Your previous posts make this a lie.
I probably would blame you though...
Which utterly contradicts your claim of admitting your mistakes and appreciating a real effort..

You appreciate his effort by not reading his posts. LOL.
