    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    Opinions on Aiki Jiutsu?

I wanted to start a thread about aiki jiutsu as a self admitted noob. What are the opinions about it's effectiveness in real life situations in regards to staying safe in this crazy world? I've been a gun guy for years and started training bjj recently but want to learn as much as I can about all martial arts and their real world practicality. Thanks for all the feedback,

Is there a club near you? If yes, go there and trust your instincts. Like all styles, there is a big divergence in quality between dojos / teachers. I took a masterclass from a Dutch police instructor and it felt like my arms were being torn right of. It did look like one needed a lot of practice to get effective and efficient using it.

I went trained at a Daito-ryu place for a time...it wasn't awful, and I'm not saying that you might not pick up a few things that could be useful, but its all in the way they train, and you'd be better served looking into judo if its nearby. With training in bjj, you'll know the difference between training with resistance and without, so you should be able to figure out if it will be worth the time and money.
