    @ Permalost:
that would be most kind of you, sir :) a mini-seminar/crash course with a minimalist simple approach to the rich world of stick fighting sounds quite intriguing!

Airlie Beach looks quite amazing. Do you train MMA there, gregaquaman?

Yes it is good fun. No dramas about dropping in and having a go.

We have been to Japan last year and visited the Kodokan as well.
As much as i wanted to go there for the legacy of Jigoro Kano, I ended up just watching a class. There was little to no instruction and a whole lot of sparring. Nothing wrong with that, but i quickly got a strong feeling that the japanese crowd (mostly up and coming high school and university combatants) was actually more or less openly annoyed to have to randori with the few westerners/tourists who were quite visibly less "competitive".
I do not blame them but it did not make me want to join the lost looking Gaijins neither.

With the guidance of a friend i instead went to a Dojo north from Tokyo where i participated in a Ne-waza oriented class. Two senseis (6th and 8th Dan) were teaching 8 Japanese and us two westerners. I was amazed by the politeness and the good will of those gentlemen. Afterwards we all went out for Sashimi and Beer + Sake.

    Great Moments :)

Sweet, will have to try and get back up there sans the pestilent gromlets, still curious about this salmon bar thing.

If you really want to sell Airlie though, you should post some shots from around the lagoon in the daytime. Though, not sure that would help him sell it to his fiance ;-)
    Dum spiro, spero.
    Tada gan iarracht.
