24 So Jacob was left alone, and a man wrestled with him till daybreak. 25 When the man saw that he could not overpower him, he touched the socket of Jacob’s hip so that his hip was wrenched as he wrestled with the man. 26 Then the man said, “Let me go, for it is daybreak.”

But Jacob replied, “I will not let you go unless you bless me.”
27 The man asked him, “What is your name?”

    “Jacob,” he answered.

28 Then the man said, “Your name will no longer be Jacob, but Israel,[a] because you have struggled with God and with humans and have overcome.”
Not only was God into wrestling but the winner of this championship match won a nation to be buit after him.

Also the first documented hip submission.

with all due respect to any Christians, one doesn't even need to get into or analyze anything religious to simply say:

if you feel MMA is against your Christian beliefs DON'T GO TO MMA EVENTS. its really that simple.

But it isn't that simple, it never is. You and I both share that belief, don't like it, don't watch it. But if someone who is religious does not like something, they frequently can't let it go. They can find some part of scripture they point to that backs up their claim that said practice is "sinful".

Then they get the "masses" (pun intended) all riled up. If you are a fan of MMA, or even worse, a fighter, you now have a fight on your hands. And it is a fight that will never, ever, stop.

The Christian Civic League of Maine, and others like them, will not stop trying to get rid of what they don't approve of. If the author of that article is not alone in his view than MMA in Maine will face endless challenges.

Read it again; it wasn't a hip submission, that was God fighting dirty.

Only if it wasn't in the rules. :)

That anti MMA dude would not survive a second in the old testament, he would probably be captured by the sodomites and used as a slave

It's funny to think that so-called pastors will encourage people to enjoy Star Wars, Chronicles of Narnia and Lord of the Rings, which all have hateful wars and extreme prejudices involved in the stories, but shun anyone who wants to go see a friendly, consensual and planned out fight between two well trained individuals with trained medical staff on hand in the event that anything goes wrong.

I'll bet this pastor would also encourage the young people in his church to "serve your country by joining the Army" where they'll be trained to kill with extreme prejudice. Not fight someone of assumed equal skill and trained medical staff at the ready, but kill as your life depended on it.

I hope you guys see the double standard I'm trying to point out. This guy is bogus.

I'm sure there's Christian busybodies who rally against all those things. My nephew showed me anti-Harry Potter and anti-Hulk comic pamphlet that some Christian assholes gave him on Halloween.

But Harry Potter is a different thing altogether. HP is mostly criticized for making children believe that they can practice witchcraft and cast spells, which is, when in pretend, harmless, but if a person actually starts digging into that, well, best case scenario the child thinks that they can become like God or they just fall into a false religion/cult, which is sin (1st and 2nd commandment). Worst case scenario, there are priests who have written about and been interviewed about performing exorcisms on people who had gotten into ouija boards, eneagrams, wicca, and all other sorts of things most people just look at as foolish (considering ouija boards are sold by Parker Brothers). I have no authority to speak on this subject, though, I'm just speaking from experience as a devout Christian myself. I was about 9 years old when HP was a big thing, and I'm actually considering asking my mom if our at-the-time pastor spoke about whether parents should allow their kids to get into it or not.

Anti-Hulk and other superheroes though is kinda the same thing; that you can have supernatural powers from something other than God's will. To the majority of it, I say it's harmless, because parents and teachers need to raise their kids to understand that it's 99% fake.
