Yamasaki Academy of Woodbridge
I am the owner and head BJJ coach for the Yamasaki Academy of Woodbridge. We are located in Woodbridge, VA at 13546 Minnieville Rd. It's kind of crap for me to review my own place, but I will attempt to be unbiased and just give the facts.
The facility is 3000 sq ft total, but nearly all of that is matted. We have spare gis, as well as spare boxing and MMA gloves, shin guards, thai pads, belly pads and focus mitts. We even had a few grappling dummies as well as some workout equipment.
We offer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with all adult classes taught by me (I am a 1st degree BJJ Black Belt) with the kids BJJ classes taught by my coach Francisco Neto (4th degree BJJ Black Belt) and myself. We have live sparring every class for this, obviously. We offer beginners and advanced classes and it include Gi as well as No-Gi.
We also have Judo for adults and kids as well. All Judo classes are taught by 8th Dan Judoka Maurice Allan. Maurice was in the Olympics as a wrestling competitor and won the World Sambo Championships. Nearly every class will have randori.
Our Muay Thai progam is headed up and taught by retired professional Muay Thai fighter Mark DeLuca. Mark held a couple of professional World Championship titles. We offer Muay Thai for kids and adults as well. Sparring in Muay Thai is limited to the specific "sparring" classes but is full rules Muay Thai.
Our MMA program is headed up by retired MMA fighter Aaron Riley. Aaron fought in the UFC, Pride, IFL, Bodog and pretty much everything else. When he cannot run classes, our other coach is another retired pro fighter named Francisco Salguero. Our MMA program is for fighters, it is not much instruction and it a lot of sparring and cardio training. We only offer MMA for adults.
We do not have any weapons classes.
I will leave the reviews on the personalities of the instructors to the students and/or visitors. But we are damn funny, I will say!
That sounds super rad. You should contact Plasma so you can get a BJJ black belt tag.
I wish I had a place this good where I lived. No good Judo really here in Montreal.
Can't do that man! You get it when you get it! ;)
