Basically it seems that all the RBSD guys are wrong about how a bar fight goes down. Go figure.

If you go to ground and stall the fight is usually broken up rather than it turning into river dance.
I have seen both happen.
Now here is some river dance.

I know. It's heartbreaking.
After countless viewings of the documentary masterpiece Roadhouse and Bas Rutten's instructional videos you go out to the club all pumped up to take on the empire. But when you finally meet a like minded Mookasaurus you both wind up 86'd faster than you can say "Dingitty Dangitty".
It's like people would rather socialize and enjoy themselves than dodge belligerent drunks and flying pint glasses or something.
What a world...

Obviously they have never been to a redneck bar in Illinois.

Now, I don't go to bars very often (based on appearance I'm what you'd call an "easy target"), but I definitely can't see this being true everywhere, like Bneterasedmynam said about redneck bars. Some of the bars in my area, I can see it, because the people in my area are usually quite calm and I see on a regular basis common courtesy being used (warms my heart, it does). However, not everyone in the world is courteous, or perhaps they have another way of showing it, such as "not getting involved, let them sort it out in a manly fashion" or something manly like that. So yeah, I'd say: "fret not, ye followers of the Bas. Your time may still shine! :D"

I'm interested in the male vs. female fights and their viewpoint. I would suspect there is a lower level of intervention because the females are more often the agressors and most people don't worry about a male suffering a serious injury in those cases. They assume the males are the agressors. That is not at all my observation.
"We often joke -- and we really wish it were a joke -- that you will only encounter two basic problems with your 'self-defense' training.
1) That it doesn't work
2) That it does work"

LOL. They do one study, in one type of environment, try to control for levels of intoxication....how could anyone argue with their assertion that the bystander effect is less common today than years ago?
Start a training log!
