    Canadian Judo Nationals 2013

The 2013 Canadian Judo nationals took place in Burnaby about a week ago, and while a year out to meniscus tearing meant I was in no shape to participate, I still got into the spirit of things by watching youtube footage of the competition. I'll post whatever fights I find so that you all can do the same.

One of the backbelts from my club fights in kicks the crap out of the masters division each year.

This one's a great battle taken by uchimata:

Hey, sweet! I'm gonna sift through all of these, good quality and camerawork. None of me though... for shame.

Ramon was in my division at Edmonton last year but I never played him, he was on the other side of the draw.

Brandon Job had an awesome shiai...he was on fire, dumping guys for ippon...his left Osoto Gari in the Senior Mens -90 kg finals was HUGE. Then another huge throw, Uchi Mata, to win the -21 Mens division at the same weight.

As has already been noted twice, the nationals took place in Richmond this year. I made a mistake and wrote Burnaby up top.

    Hey Neil,

I spoke with a sensei from your club, asked if he knew you (while we were at the training camp). He did and we both discussed how nice a guy you are...

I can't remember his name, big guy, though. We have some kids going to the next big training camp in Saskatchewan in August. We are making it an annual pilgrimage. I wont be there, though.

See you in Montreal next year ?

Iggy is an awesome guy...besides being absolutely huge. He won his match in finals in great style.
