Oh you slapped a pink ribbon on your car and thought it would cure cancer? You jogged 5 whole K too? Get that crap out of here. These ladies wear pink and swing sticks, to fix problems in their community.

Read the full article for our Badass of the Month winner: the Sampat Pal Devi and her Gulabi Gang.

Vice gives us a glimpse of the Asgarda, a group led by a former Kickboxing champion, which focuses on empowering women by teaching them martial arts and an Amazon* warrior spirit.

Clicked over from Asgarda to the women guerrilla fighters of Kurdistan. I'm sold. Free Kurdistan!

Your indepth response leaves us free of all questions. I have gained enlightenment merely by standing near the laptop.

Maybe 'empowering women' means a different thing for Sarzis and you than it means for me.

Maybe it does, but unless you've got more in the works than "no, not really" I've no idea.

All my efforts are going into restraining myself from posting the Monty Python argument sketch.

Well, from my POV, Tarnovska is promoting the 'Woman, know your place' adding some SD moves.

I disagree with 'Kinder, Küche & Kirche' as empowering women even if it is accompanied with martial arts training.

Thank you, a much better reply. Not having had the chance to fully watch the clip, I can't respond right away, but hopefully shall soon.

I agree they are not FEMEN-level (LOL BOOBIES), but despite their subservient attitude towards men (bred into them due to seemingly cultural reasons that are mentioned in the clip, and I guess lack of exposure to more Western media and culture), them being able to defend themselves through training and old cultural values is a step forward in such a fucked-up country.
