    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Jay Foster's MMA - Ocean Springs, MS

I came across a post on Sherdog that caught me off guard. Someone trying to start their own "kumite" in my home city. Basically, he is riding off of the Lloyd Irvin debacle and is trying to make a name for himself. I did a little more research into him to try to find out his credentials. I found out about his gym and gave a call. The person that answered the phone stated that the owner is a Judo BB as well as BJJ BB under Marcelo Garcia. I'm trying to find any validity to this!!

This guy is hawking his books really hard, he claims to run an anti-bullying program but has no apparent qualifications for such a thing, he claims to have "secrets" that other instructors "don't want you to know", claims to teach karate (but he won't say what style) as part of an MMA program, and the site lists no martial arts credentials for this guy at all. I'd say those are all bad signs.

There's also no listed e-mail address where I can contact this club and ask questions. I'd love to get something in writing from this place about the instructor's credentials.

Alan Belcher should be able to shed some light on this guy. Seems like they know each other.

Well, I just gave them my e-mail address. We'll see if they contact me. After I submitted it, though, I got directed to a page where I'm supposed to fill out a form to get the guy's FREE!! book. Not going to give them all that information, so I hope the e-mail address alone will get me a response and therefore an address where I can send some questions.

Just talked to my boss, he trains with MG here in NYC and has been for the last 3 years. To his knowledge, there hasn't been anyone named Jay Foster training there.

He is local to us. I train at Alan's gym and live in the same town as this guy. I have lived in this area for 10 plus years and have never heard of this guy as a martial arts practitioner. After I brought this up at class, a few people started checking more into it and found a video of Foster basically talking negatively about one of our 10 y/o students at a Naga competition.

Thank you sir! Through his website he claims: "Iím on a MISSION. A MISSION to STOP BAD MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTORS."

I guess I'm just trying to do the same. :p

    Alan's gym looks AWESOME

A friend of mine from Team Combat has trained with Mikey "Triangles" back when he lived on long island. From what I hear, he's a sick martial artist.

We all got a nice chuckle out of the Alex Vamos "White Belt" video, classic!
