Kung Fu Film Actor Lau Kar Leung Dead

Saturday Morning Kung Fu Theater fans are mourning today as Lau Kar Leung (real name: Liu Chia Liang), lost his battle with leukemia according to the media in Hong Kong. Lau's career spanned more than a half-century of films, including the most recent, 2003's Drunken Monkey.

    He was 76 years old.

Lau most famously starred in films with his more famous "god-brother" Gordon Liu, who is also fighting an illness and in critical condition. Other films featuring Lau include The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, My Young Auntie, Drunken Master II with Jackie Chan, and Tsui Hark's Seven Swords.

Here he is taking on Sammo Hung in Pedicab Driver:

R.I.P The Pops. He will be missed. If his name was anywhere on a film I'd watch it.

I don't believe Gordon Liu is currently "in critical condition".

He's been involved in a nasty divorce and has been in rehabilitative care after suffering a stroke, fall, and 5-inch head injury two years ago.

    Depends on the source:
    http://twitchfilm.com/2013/04/martia...riorating.html

In August 2011, Gordon Liu, Hong Kong martial arts legend and star of The 36th Chamber of Shaolin, Kill Bill 1 & 2 plus numerous other classic films, suffered a major stroke that left him completely paralyzed on the right side of his body.

It appears that his condition has deteriorated over time and now he is not talking or moving as well as he was six months ago. Since the stroke, he has lost almost 20kg in weight.

Wow, Poor Gordon Liu! He looks like my mom did before she passed away. I'll be surprised if he makes it another 12 months. Honestly, a lot of us will go out something like this, these days. Plus rep on Phrost, I was about to post this. Gonna watch some shaw bros right now!

Hollywood shitheads can raise millions in little donations for their dumb little pet movie projects, but a martial arts cinema legend runs out of cash paying for his stroke and paralysis rehab?

Time for a Kickstarter project to preserve his legacy and use the funds to donate towards his care.

He seems to have been involved in more than half of the HK film industry's releases, many of them being very influential classics. He was great in many films like Drunken Master II.

    He will be missed RIP
