I think fitness memes are usually fortune cookie bullshit, so I'd hope such a subforum wouldn't use them as its cornerstones or OPs.

Whenever I'm feeling out of it, lack of motivation, I look up workout pics, videos, and stuff like that to try to get my head in the right spot. So, I think it is a good idea.

A management conference I went to emphasized that you can't motivate someone else. You can only create and environment that allows someone to motivate themselves. So I'm all for creating a motivational environment.

If it gets D A Young to post regularly again, then I'm all for it.

I use good ol' heartbreak as inspiration, despite being healed up and happy it's still a good resource to tap. My ex binned me when I was massively underweight becouse of a tear in my colon. When I was on my feet again and alone I beasted kettles, took up MT again and climbed at work daily amongst running and body weight exercises. At 33 it was kicking my ass but anger fueled me and I'm now in the best condition of my life and her sister wants to sleep with me. So yeah, scratch an old wound but use it.

    And do kettles...

Do not look to external sources for motivation. True motivation comes from the inside.

What you're looking for is inspiration. I find inspiration from many sources, but if said inspiration doesn't result in perspiration, then find a different source.

The memes are more for "public" benefit - either to inspire or shame - than for our members themselves. But they can be a good jumping-off point. A lot of the ones (not all, but a lot) we've done here are actually original content created to spark discussion on a particular topic.

For example this one: ... was specifically done in response to a discussion I can't remember now.

Hell, if nothing else, posting a motivational meme from some other source might be a great opportunity to deconstruct it or call bullshit on its premise... like this one:

This I already do. I only use the car if I'm going on the highway.
I had a fourteen mile ride on Tuesday, out to my kung fu instructor's house and back. It definitely felt good.
When I was living in Seattle, I was doing 60-70 miles a week, and over Seattle's high and fuckish hills. Now that I'm back in Michigan, I probably do something like 20 miles a week, and over flat ground as well.
