Now that I have your complete and undivided attention: The grips on my chinup bar are starting to wear on one side. I was hoping some might have some shade-tree (what a ridiculous use of the saying) fix(es) for this problem that are 1) cheap, and 2) cheaper than buying a new chinup bar.

What kind of bar is this? Is it like a door bar, or one of those tower deals, or one at a playground? And what kind of grip is it, foam?

A suggestion that's been made for barbell shafts is pool noodles - the wider grip gives you more of a challenge, while the material protects your hands.

It's a door bar with foam grips, I believe.

I would just go to the store and get some grip tape for baseball bats. Put that grip back around the bar, then tape it up with the grip tape. Easy.

    Oh, and nice pic.

Wrap it with grip tape. Baseball bat, tennis racket, whatever.

Have you tried not being a *****? Just take the grips off. Of course when your grip starts to get sweaty it will be harder to hang on and who wants that? Then you might get some man strength. Try throwing a towel over it which will work your grip harder also.

    +rep for pull up girl!

Long story short: old injury; must assist, or much pain.

I had read some old posts on that earlier.
