If I'm going to explain resistance in context (LOL) to Tai Chi and old people:

Guys, can we please restrict this to the topic at hand? Namely, Canadian accents and their utility in the peaceful resolution of potentially violent conflicts.

I just got done watching this movie. Overall, I give the movie a C.

It started out with a some promise but quickly degenerated into a bunch of fight scenes strung together with a thread bare plot. Character development was almost non-existent, the plot was as minimum as you could get and the dialogue was more wooden than Keanu's expressions.

On the plus side, I thought the fighting sequences were quite well done. There was some wire-fu but not nearly as much as I thought there was going to be. The sets and locations were splendid. I really enjoyed the movie from a visual context.

Be that as it may, I was disappointed. I wasn't expecting an Oscar contender but I had some hope that would be a decent film. All I can say is that thank the heavens that I streamed it for free.

About on par with Julia Roberts G'n'P-ing Meryl Streep, over some little blue pills, in August: Osage County?

There were more plot holes in this movie than there are moves in Tai Chi.

Keanu was Keanu. He is always Keanu.

    "Yeah! Nailed it!"
"No, Keanu. That wasn't the line."
    "Huh?"
    "It's 'I know Tai Chi.'"
    "What's that mean?"
"murmurmurmur...Just read the line please. Action!"
    "I know kung fu!"

I enjoyed it. I thought that the fight scenes were well done, and that the camera work was above average.

It's funny, we debated this in your thread and I pointed to The Grandmaster being better:
    http://www.kdramastars.com/articles/...oscar-nods.htm
While the film was not nominated in the category of best foreign language film, it did get Oscar nods for William Chang Suk Ping's costume design and Philippe Le Sourd's cinematography.
Two Oscar nods for a mediocre movie.

The Grandmaster did not impress me, and the fight scenes were not the strongest point of that movie. They were way to quiet (some of theme were literally silent), and there was too much wire-fu for my taste.

That's my point. The Grandmaster isn't impressive, but it is waaaaaaaaaaay better than Man of Tai Chi. You mentioned camera work and the GM was nominated for cinematography.

It was a mediocre movie, with okay fight scenes, that degenerated as the movie continued. Then again I lived breathed and consumed the genre. If sounds are an issue, we are on completely different wavelengths concerning MA movies.

I explained it in your last thread, Ip Man is a borderline mythical figure, so his depiction was filmed in that manner.

I despise wire-fu and it's why I don't have the love for Jet-Li like many other people. I do appreciate some of his moves because they are mythical Heroes and it doesn't bother me as much.
