There is much joy to be found between MMA and Tai Chi. All it takes is pressure, and time.

I like the movements in that vid. One question though how much resistance are they using?? Not meant as a troll serious question.

Did you watch the entire video?

The MMA guy is assisting Ian do to demo techniques so there is some compliant stuff, but they are clearly resisting each other throughout most of the video.

I'm still not convinced about that guy. Look at the "double legs" the demo partner was using, for example. He bends at the waste, lumbers over, is pushed out of the way...

Is there any video of this guy, say, grappling with someone his size? Entering a NAGA or something? He does look like he has good hand-fighting, which of course is the one area where tai chi guys traditionally spar alive. (In general!) But the only part that seemed alive was the push-hands at the end, and I'd like to see a video I knew represented a game, size-matched opponent and an open ruleset.

His own words say it was compliant. Seriously, your nutriding is getting ridiculous again. I've let others say it, but you need to reign it in. You are edging closer and closer to larpttastic bullshit posts. He speaks well, delivers good commentary, but that video does nothing to show resistant tai chi.

The videos itself is fine, your commentary is adding the bullshit.

Really? For a convention demo I thought there was more resistance than I've seen in the last 50 tai chi videos I've watched.

Shows what I know about the art I suppose.

That's a little passive-aggressive, huh? Anyway, you're a bully, you know the difference between "resistant" and "more resistant than most tai chi".

I know the difference. Someone (who claimed to not be trolling la la la) asked the resistance level in the demos, I thought it went from compliant early on to resistant for the last half or so, in the context we're supposedly discussing (Tai Chi that isn't old people in the park).

Anyone with taijichuan training is welcome to correct me.

Here are the more resistant demos.

I just love to hear Ian Sinclair's accent when he talks about Tai Chi. I don't want or care to defend the resistance in the demos, but I should have known someone would start nitpicking about it.

It's silly to talk about resistant demos, unless we're to be impressed by the fact that the MMA fellow wasn't throwing himself to the floor or allowing his limbs to hang limply at his sides.

As a demo it was mostly fine; occasionally it was fanciful. 2:29 was especially stupid.

    Read Rivington's post.

As I said, I have no problem with the video, It's what you are trying to infer and call people on that is silly.

You've spent multiple posts nitpicking, crying and whining, but you aren't defending resistant demos now? As of this quote?
    L-O-L.

Oh and the irony is you called a poster a troll, then resorted to EXACTLY what he does when someone doesn't like his opinion.
