The responsibility of hosting the annual Texas Sambo Championships has been bequeathed to me, starting this year, so here's your heads-up bullies...

Saturday Aug. 17th, at Eastside Austin Elite in Austin, TX

Freestyle rules are pretty unique, in that it doesn't necessarily favor one style of grappling over another, although the base skillset is definitely sambo. All kinds of wrestlers have an equal chance to do well. Medalists will receive points toward national rankings and the ASA Master Sportsman Award.

Send me a PM for more info, or peruse the site at http://www.sambofighter.com.

We are also hoping to have a sport rules tournament later this year, so I will post something about that if it comes to fruition.

Sorry, forgot to mention this... You can tell this is my first year doing this...

The freestyle tournament is also coupled with an ISWA Catch Wrestling tournament. The catch wrestling ruleset is awesome, and a much-needed counterpoint to the BJJ-heavy environment that a lot of us American grapplers work in.

Boyd Ritchie and the ISWA guys are great people, so please support.

Which was wholly my fault. You are a credit to your sport sir. There are few people I respect on this site more than you Steve, but even that respect cannot overcome familial obligations.

I'm really sorry. Keep in mind however, that I'm overrated on this website.

I owe you dinner and a few beers.
