Wrestling has well developed defenses and counters to wrestling attacks. Wing Chun has the same but for Wing Chun. Judo same for Judo, etc., etc..

The simple answer is (as has been stated here many times) is to study wrestling and drill the basic defenses and escape and counters, then test them by wrestling live.

Why everybody has to make their own art into the be all and end all is a mystery to me. It's like if I tried to invent some sort of Judo based striking system...

I was watching W.Rabbit's boxing - wing chun video. Its still better than every other wing-chun vs diff. style video I've ever seen. However, i still think he doesn't quite understand boxing. Unlike a wing chun fighter, boxer isn't going to stay there. He is constantly moving, setting up angles, even as he is punching. Its much more dynamic than he makes it out to be.

The way my current gym trains me, I am not even going to be at the same location after that jab. Also it is incredibly difficult to time that sort of WC defense against a good one-two. The two is not going to come if the one didn't do its job.

Izzo is spot on and already is a cut above most Kung Fu instructors with the idea of forward pressure. I'd love to see some head movement added into his teaching, but you can't get everything.

He's a cut above what you experienced, not most.
