My response was more about how common this type of thread was in the early days of BS.

I have also used BJJ in altercations (RNC and once a triangle when I got knocked on my ass), but I have used wrestling takedowns far more often.
I laughed so hard at this.

Crazy as that sounds.
Let's see, I've=
Guillotine choked a guy 4 years ago,
Hip thrown many
RNC almost as many people
Double legged 2 or 3
Sprawled a few times
All in real life fights
Since BJJ didn't teach me those techniques I'd have to say no, I've never used BJJ on the street.
Omega doesn't use Jiu Jitsu... Jiu Jitsu uses Omega...
Omega just hasn't figured out that all grappling is BJJ yet. Its ok hes kind of slow eventually he will get it.

I'm pretty sure that counts.
Never trained BJJ but I've used "crapling" to great effect on several occasions.
By that measure, someone who actually knows how to fight should do OK...
How is it I have zero BJJ Training other than watching UFC on VHS, but I still know a simple 3 step process to making sure BJJ works in "da street":
Step 1: Do Armbar.
Step 2: Pull hard.
Step 3: Ignore tap.
Again...who other than the most clueless of people thinks judo or BJJ aren't MORE dangerous on asphalt or cement than padded mats?

Certain techniques, Yes, mostly work related.
