    Hell yeah! Hell no!

    24 hour (ninja) randori session

So, em I guess I have to say something or get chewed out for positing a low content thread...

I can do about 30 mins of randori before I need a a nice sit down. An hour and a half and I need to be carried home, even if I try to pace myself.

These guys apparently do 24 hours. In a rocky environment.

Now either there are a bunch of ninjas with fitness levels that I could only dream of, or they have a very different idea to me of what randori/free practice means.

Does anyone have more info on this?

    LOL at Ninja Randori...

I think in the past we have had discussions with "ninja" regarding randori, as well as some other arts.

Judo randori is the standard we go buy, more than likely. It can be light or hard, however, it always involves actually completing techniques. Otherwise it's something other than randori.

Most of what I saw in that vid was no-contact or light-contact sparring, [probably] compliant drilling, and sloppy kata. And they were wearing those weird toe-shoes instead of tabi.

. . . Also, most of it didn't really look like ninja stuff so much as typical krotty (not that they're terribly different combatively, but wouldn't ninja training involve more "remaining unseen" or "moving through difficult terrain" or something?)

The video had some group kata at the end, which makes me think this 24 hours wasn't all sparring.

Well, it's obvious they don't know what randori means, I wouldn't be surprised if they were also unclear on the exact definition of 24 hours too.

From this video it looks like their randori is very light sparring: Could be worse I guess?

Where does their love for slow motion come from? Is it to cover their shitty sparring or are they just too extreme for me?

It's possible they are "slow fighting" rather than using post-production editing, and trying not to move at full speed so that they can use better technique. . .
