I agree Silva won't really do better the second time around. But I still enjoy the build up and watching the event regardless.

Pretty entertaining card imho. It went pretty much how expected. Bigfoot got beat down (honestly, no idea how he ended up with a title shot in the first place, but whatever, it's good to see new people get a shot I suppose...)

Was rooting for Hunt, but JDS looked solid. I thought he was a bit tentative in the beginning but quickly gained confidence and took over.

Always a pleasure to watch KJ Noons get beat...

Really? Why? I feel kinda sorry for KJ. Pretty sure Cerrone got KJ as a surefire win to bounce back from his loss. This was a mismatch from the start.

I agree with you about Noons, and let me add what a pleasure it was to watch Colton Smith finally face someone with an answer to his vicious lay and pray attack. His face after the KO was a joy to behold. No sanctimonious bullshit about god and the troops that night, at least.

No idea how much a 1st round broken toe affected Hunt's performance, but it can't make getting to correct range any easier for the smaller guy in a big cage. Kudos for JDS though. I honestly thought it would be a closer match with a lot more grappling to stay away from Hunt's strengths.

BTW: can anyone remember a more thorough grapplefuck than what Nurmagomedov displayed against Trujillo who should be a competent grappler on his own right?
Curiosity killed the cat. But damn it had a blast.

I wish UFC refs had the option to issue penalties for particularly pathetic failures to fight. Nurmagomedov wasn't terribly impressive outside of his ability to smother Trujillo from behind, and unless he can figure out a way to do real damage I don't see White and company being impressed with a string of such performances. Trujillo made it so much worse, and, frankly, should be fired, for whining to the ref. If the ref has to remind you in the midst of a fight that it is YOUR job, not his, to extricate you from the body lock your opponent has you in, perhaps you should look into other work.

I dunno, I just can't stand the guy.

It's the hair. It wasn't a problem in this fight, but back when he wore it down in his eyes, and constantly had to push it back while fighting it caused me to develop a lasting dislike for the man, and a desire to see him beaten. I agree with you, though, about why Cerrone got that fight, and it is kind of sad, particularly because I don't think that Zuffa has any intention of keeping Noons around all that long.
