    Hell yeah! Hell no!

Moves that shouldn't have worked, but did

Whether you were the person living a moment of spectacular glory or you were the rube featured on some other guy's highlight reel at your own expense -- hell, even if you were just a bystander to the spectacle -- what are some moves that you've seen work that really shouldn't have?

Bonus points if you've got video!

Let's skip the Showtime kick, though, since we've all seen that one.

For me it's the Kung Fu low-spinning sweep kick. That thing you see people do in movies, which is often countered by jumping over it. I went for a head kick, The Arbiter (a Boston Bully) threw a low spinning sweep at the same time. It was like something out of a movie! My leg went right out under me and I hit the canvas with a resounding thud.

So that was my experience... Hoping for some good stories here!

I was taught this execrable two-man form - absolutely Southern Movie Style, if you get my drift.

There was one move where your opponent throws a right inside crescent kick, and you duck under it, grabbing his right hand as you do so. The kick would pass over your head, and you tug on the hand to pull your opponent to the ground.

Years later, I'm sparring against a student, and I duck his kick; all in one motion, I grabbed his hand, stood up, and he toppled to the deck.

What I should have done is say "... and that's just one of the many powerful techniques you'll learn from me," but instead all I could do was stand there and gape.

The funniest one by far was, we started standing I was up against a really talented Purple belt that also had a lot of HS wrestling experience. So we get grips hes starting to circle around to set something up but I just sort of stick my foot out and trip him. It was freaking AWESOME.

I once laid someone out with the sloppiest, most telegraphed, drunken haymaker in the history of sloppy drunk hay makers.

I'm not exagerating this "sloppy drunk" thing either. I had tunnel vission so bad it looked like he fell through a trap door from my perspective. Like a cartoon...

I was a white belt and traiing for the first time with my Japanese sensei in Ft. Worth, Texas (he was a godan who was a world silver medalist/all japan champion). I somehow threw him with Ouchi Gari as he stepped to my right/his left. He went flat down on his back with me standing there, like he had slipped on a banana peel. I was so surprised I kind of chuckled. My home dojo instructor looked at me and did what amounted to a facepalm as I stood there grinning like an idiot.

Everything after that is kind of a blur. It involved me being thrown, and then picked up bodily before I could get up, and being thrown again.

Another time, I did an aikido-esque throw on a huge (like 6'5 300 lbs and not fat) green belt who was former high school state Greco/Freestyle champion. No wristlock was involved, though, LOL. I basically turned and did a one knee on ground type of seoi otoshi, and nothing but my hands touched him. He flew about 8 feet, did a nice rolling breakfall, and stood up with this puzzled look on his face.

I sometimes like to go for a double Bud Spencer punch in sparring after lulling people into complacency by being boringly orthodox for a few minutes.

Like that but with both hands. I also box peoples' ears the same way or go for double uppercuts after crouching down. I'm goofy like that.
